The entrepreneurial Comac was set up in the early seventies thanks to the brilliant idea of Giancarlo Ruffo, who
was a sweeping machines salesman at that time. Comac was actually founded in 1974 by Giancarlo Ruffo and
Domenico Accadia, and the aim was to design and manufacture floor-cleaning machines for industrial and professional
use, a sector which was just beginning at that time.
"Lavait 400" and "Lavait 500" were the first models they manufactured

The year 1980 was the decisive year: the legendary "L 16" was manufactured and commercialised, a machine
which was immediate successful on markets all over the world thanks to its versatility, efficiency and strength.
You can even see some of them still working well today.

After that, Comac designed and manufactured new machines every year and kept on improving the older models, which
were manufactured in stainless steel, in different sizes, either electrical with cable or battery operated, so that
a complete line characterised by the alphabetical character "L" was launched.

1990. The line C dates back to the early nineties, and its great innovation consisted in the ride-on
machines which guaranteed very high hourly capacity. A machine segment Comac is still the undisputed leader of on
several markets all over the world.

1992. Comac assigned 33% of its capital shares to Henkel, Floordress division, a multinational chemicals
company when they already had a long-lasting, established business relationship with.
1993. Comac took over Fimap srl, a company of the sector manufacturing sweeping machines and scrubber-dryers
which was in the middle of a serious crisis.
1995. A considerable technological change took place: rotational polyethylene was introduced for machine
construction. Comac rebuilt its machines, starting with the concept to exploit the flexibility, strength and
versatility features of this innovative material.

1997. Comac was the first company to launch a compact ride-on machine: Tripla 75

2002. Comac has been offering technologically advanced machines for 5 years, with innovative solutions which
fulfil the requirements of the most qualified operators. Some recent models are Abila 42/52, Media 26, Tripla 65,
Tripla 85

2003. In the year 2003 the new team of all the companies and brand names that are related to the Ruffo
family was officially established: Comac, Tmb, Ruffo and Cofirent. These "brands" have made a name for
themselves in Italy and all over the world thanks to our common commitment.
On 25th June 2003, the acquisition of the majority stake of Comac Spa and its subsidiaries was announced with
great satisfaction.
The new, vibrant and vital "network" of companies which share a common philosophy devoted to professional
cleaning represent a huge heritage in terms of experience, entrepreneurial skills and willingness to innovate.

2004. Comac expands its range of floor cleaning products
In 2004 new lines and a wider range of Comac products have become reality: Scrubbing machines, sweeping machines,
industrial and commercial vacuum cleaners, single-disc machines. Research and innovation are more and more focused
on machine quality, on new services for the customer and on communication, not an apparent but a well developed
communication to be used as targeted tool to promote the cleaning culture.

2004. Comac opens the new testing room: the anecoic room
On 25th April 2004 the new Testing Centre with the anecoic room to test the machines that are manufactured by Comac
and the other companies of the Ruffo family, is presented to its dealers. The facility is equipped with
sophisticated and most modern systems. This centre has been set up to check from the very beginning quality and
compliance of each model with the several standards by testing noise levels as well as vibration and
electromagnetic compatibility. If required, the machines can be adjusted during the production process.
